Raw Food and Health

For me, raw food and health are synonymous. Uncooked fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins and minerals that fuel every cell in the body. Eating this way is my way to heal my body, and regain the energy I need to live the fresh life I desire. Raw food gives my body a break from digesting harsh processed food and toxic chemicals that have been wreaking havoc on my system.

Vibrant Citrus -  Raw Food and Health

In the past years, when going raw, I would feel more sustained energy at this point than I have this time on the diet. It may have something to do with the fact that I have not made time for exercise. It could also be that my body is so compromised that it may take a lot longer to rid my cells of unwanted toxic waste.

Tamara Gets Fresh is about overall health and improving my vitality for life. I wanted the month of January to just be about diet, but I have come to realize that I need to make time to move my body. It’s winter, and although running is my favorite way to workout, I am less likely to run in the cold weather. I ordered two yoga DVD’s and will start there and see how disciplined I can be at home.


The Get Fresh Challenge Day 18

I felt like my body needed greens when I woke up this morning, so that is what I ate. It felt good and I had a pretty good day as far as energy goes. My cravings are not too bad, but I’m still not getting enough calories in throughout the day. This has been my biggest issue on this challenge and with raw food and health I know eating enough is really important. I ended my day with cantaloupe, which is not very high in calories but was satisfying.

Today I ate:

Breakfast
Salad of 5 Lettuce Leaves, 8 Dandelion Leaves, handful of Parsley, handful of Cilantro, cup of Red Bell Pepper, 1 small tomato
2 Bananas

Lunch
6 large Bananas

Dinner
1 whole Cantaloupe


The Get Fresh Challenge Day 19

My skin and eyes are starting to look much better. My skin is usually soft because I drink a lot of water, even when I am not focusing on raw food and health. The difference when eating a raw food diet is a glow and suppleness. As for my eyes, if you want to know how much crap I have eaten, look me in the eyes. For the past couple of years, my eyes have been dull, puffy, and life-less. When eating raw they start to widen and I can see more clearly. The colors of the world look sharper and more vibrant. Overall, my body becomes less bloated and joint pain lessens.


Today I ate:

Breakfast
8 Large bananas

Lunch
2 Cantaloupes

Dinner
Whole head of Romaine Lettuce
5 large Bananas

The Get Fresh Challenge Day 20

January 22, 2012

I had a little set back today and ate some steamed Brussels Sprouts. I guess that was giving into my cravings. I’m trying not to judge myself like I have when failing on the raw diet in the past. Before, I would use this as an excuse to eat badly all day. I don’t want to do that this time on my raw food and health quest. My goal is to keep eating all raw and if I have some steamed vegetables, than it should be okay for my brain to accept and continue eating raw.

Today I ate:

Breakfast
6 large Bananas

Lunch
8 Steamed Brussels Sprouts

Dinner
½ large Papaya

Papayas are a Delicious Source of Vitamins and Nutrients for Raw Food and Health.


My raw food and health plan includes many forms of health related fitness. Moving my body in high intensity workouts or relaxing yoga workouts is very important to my Get Fresh success. Exercise is important to the elimination of the waste, debris, and toxins through the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system also delivers nutrients and oxygen to the cells of the body via the circulatory system. When we exercise and move our bodies, this improves the circulatory system. Eating raw and eliminating waste from our bodies leads to greater and greater health. I’m starting to feel it and see how amazing eating raw food is for the health of the body, mind, and spirit.
